Who wants to have FUN and go FAST???

You have probably seen many road courses being ran by the pro's but have you ever wanted to run a road course yourself? Just to get out there in a controlled environment to really push your bike to it's limits and improve your riding skills. Just think, clean pavement, no cars, no trees, "NO TICKETS", just open track!

MCRA and their affiliates sponsor several track days and race events. Join our MCRA Forum to view the most recent event information past and present.

What is a TRACK DAY?
Registrants (Track Day participants) are divided into different classes (Street/Novice, Intermediate and Expert) according to motorcycle type, displacement and overall riding skills. Only one class is permitted on the track at a time. A class session will last between 11 to 20 minutes (depending upon scheduling) in which they are permitted to run on the road course. Each session is scheduled to give each class as much track time as possible while still allowing time between sessions to get tips from other riders on how to improve their personal skills. Although you may start out in one class, instructors and track monitors may ask you to move up or down to a class which better suits your personal riding skills. Street/Novice sessions are chaperoned and speed restricted for safety.
MOTORCYCLE SAFETY: All motorcycles will have to pass an on-site safety inspection before allowed to enter the road course. Some tips are to make sure all bolts, nuts, fasteners, etc are secured (nothing that can fall off the bike). No oil leaks, replace antifreeze with water/water-wetter solution (antifreeze spilt on the track is slippery and VERY hard to clean up). It is a good idea to remove mirrors, turn signals or have the lenses and mirrors taped. Passenger pegs and side/center stands should be secured in the closed or up position as so that they may not open. Headlights and taillights should be disconnected and taped up so that they are not visible It is a good idea to turn off or unplug your head light before taping it up. The headlight will produce enough heat to melt the tape and will be very hard to remove later.

SAFETY WIRING: The basic 3 are required to be safety wired for Intermediate and Expert classes. This means your oil drain plug, oil filter and filler plug MUST be safety wired properly.

RIDER SAFETY: All riders participating in the Track Day sessions will be required to wear specific safety gear. The general requirements for all classes are Full Leathers or Aerostitch type suit with either a one piece or a zip-together (zips all the way around) two-piece design, Full-Face Helmet, Leather Boots and Gauntlet Style Gloves (over the wrist).

REGISTRATION: There is a limited number of registrations that the MCRA can accept and operate a Track Day safely. Registrations will remain open until we reach this preset number of entries. Once that number is reached, registrations for that date will be closed to new participants. The key is to register early to guarantee your date.

How can I join in on the fun?
There are 3 ways to register:

* Register online and pay with PayPal (use the link at the top of the page).
* Register by mail by sending in your registration and check (use the link at the top of the page).
* Register the day of the event at the track.

NOTE: Pre-registrants (fourteen days prior of the event), MCRA members and non-members, will receive a discount on their registration fees.

I won't have my bike ready in time for this Sunday's Track Day, but I will be ready for August.

Looks like it might rain this Sunday anyway...

Mother's Day Track Day Cancellation

As everyone is aware by now, the Mother's Day track day was called off due to the weather. Not that we're rain wimps mind you, but the winds were so high that it was impossible to keep the hay bales and air fence on the track. (It was rumored that Tim saw Todo pass over the air fence while it was floating 6 feet off the track). The board did a very good job of negotiating with Gateway and the track day was rescheduled for July 13th with minimal financial loss. The insurance was rolled to the new date and the total loss was for the Gateway employees and the ambulances for the time they were there. Great job all those who helped in the negotiations!

For those of you who sampled Deb's wonderful cooking (and some of us sampled way too much of it), many thanks for a job well done. The leftover food was donated to the Independence Center, a facility devoted to mental health.

July 13th will require more help, especially at the end of track day since we must pick the bales up for the July 14th Nascar prep at the track. Don't be shy about volunteering.

You better get a trailer for that FZR1000 Doug!

Really? Gonna have her ready?

The "Test the Track" deal doesn't require much. Just as long as things aren't flying off your bike.

all i gotta do is put the front end back together, I got 2.5 weeks!

I'll have time next week to do it.

slap on the R1 front brakes when I do it.........so I'll have plenty of braking!

I dont wanna see 150 on my first trackday..............and the 1k will easily break that at GIR, its supposed to be a fast track!

I doubt you'll see 150 unless you're in the Intermediate or Expert class.

Are you doing the all day "Novice" class?
