Re: Round 5 RESULTS

Round 6 just 3 sleeps away.
have already won the series so will use it as practice run for FCR carbs.
Weather is for all day rain in forcast which is a shame because i fitted new sc0 soft slicks to go for track record and it looks like wets all day.
Big drinks etc afterwards and engine gets pulled out next day for rebuild.
Looking forward to more grunt.

Series is finished and Mossy is this years champ

Won by 66 points.
Round 6 two wins by 8 seconds each.Could have been bigger but wound down each race and started short shifting as motor had death rattle going on.
Pulled the motor out this morning and top end is off.Bore and rings look good but pins are worn and slopy.Conrods dont seem worn and wisco pins are good fit.
Took one valve out and stem seals are toasted.ordered more and get 1.5mm over bored in this week.Havent stripped bottom end so still looking for death rattle.Clutch seems ok but main nut was finger tight which wasnt what we expected.
The head is a mess with up to 1.5mm ridges around intakes so head work should grab lots more hp.Also exaust gasket were to large for yoshi system and had 2mm ridge so get some smaller ones to suit.
Cams and valves are mint and cam chain wasnt cause of rattle but will replace it.
New conrod bolts going in and conrods are 6/1000 with limits 6/1000 to 10/1000 so crank is measuring good.
Going to lap valves and order new shims.cams are mint condition.

fcrs worked well lower in rev range but not top end as they are rich so was racing with 3/4 throttle until over 100mph then opening full.
Ran without filters because the 3092 K&Ns need different stack to install so have ordered them aswell.
Will have it running again in a month or so then run it in at track day before dyno tune.
Next race should be December for the Tri series so expect alot more grunt.Hoping to see 160+ rear wheel, maybe even 170.

Thanks guys.
The rebuild continues and its a sad motor.Big end and conrod bearing shells etc are all toast and primary chain stretched.
Having trouble with the bearing colour codes as the painted shell colours are missing.Bum

crank and cases and worked out the shells needed 3 x green, 1 x black, 1 x brown.

The con rods markings are not there at all. The crank pins are all number 2.

The workshop book does on give the ID of the con rod big end, so I will have a look on the internet for a different manual.

At worst it means buying one pair of shells and testing clearance first.

Not sure about the 1K, but the 600 has a group of numbers cast into the outside of the crank case that is used to determine what size bearings. You do it by taking the numbers from the case and subtracting the numbers from the crank / rods. But these may be a little off now if the crank and rods have significant wear. But like I said, I don't know if the 1K has the same kind of markings.

I came across a set of carllio rods for $500 somewhere. If you are interested, I can try to find them again.
Yes, that is a Single Sided Swingarm FZR600 that I built.

The mighty fzr had cracked sleeve also

Mossy motorcycle faults.
Latest cracked sleeve extended below the piston so likely main cause of smoke.
1040 kit
valve guides
all big ends worn
head work
cam chain
primary chain stretched

gearbox is ok though
