so i got this 1987 yamaha fzr1000 its not stock imo. 100cc overbore ,n20,air shifter ect.
i received the bike with the cams allready out of it. and i am unsure if they are stock or not.
i downloaded the service manual for the 87 fzr1000 and installed the cam per spec. set crank to tdc aligned cam dots with the lines on the caps .
and when i tried to crank it over nothing i can hear the starter engaging . checked volts and load on battery its fine. so i pulled the starter and cleaned the brushes and bench tested worked fine. but it still wont crank over the damn motor.
so i pulled the cams and cranked it holding up the timing chain and it cranked fine. reinstalled cams and no crank at all.
could it be possible that the cam gear wheels were removed and placed in a different position?
any help would be great. Thanks
no crank.possible cam missalignment?

It's toast, I'll give you $100 for it.
On a serious note, I have nothing of value to offer this thread.

1994 FZR600R Molested and rigged by the PO... BUT, I got her cheap, and she runs pretty good so I can't really complain!
Re: no crank.possible cam missalignment?
Does anyone have cam lobe measurements for stock cams. Or picture of the cam gear dot in relation to the cam
Re: no crank.possible cam missalignment?
so i have figured it out, the cams were out of sync. and im pretty sure these are aftermarket cams. i noticed a small dot punched in the cam its self so i aligned it to that. the marks on the cam gear were off based on the dot punched in the cam. and i also noticed the cams had numbers stamped on them . so i installed the cams based on the dot punched in the cam and it cranked over no problem .
here is the dots on the cams
here is the numbers on the cams
and the alignment marks on the cams to the cam caps
and what the cams should look like on tdc #1 cyclinder
so hopefully this helps someone in the future.

Glad you figured it out and posted some pics. They are always useful.
