spark cables question...............

Post by enber »

..........in which sequence are spark plugs caps and cables , connected to spark plugs ? on the wires there's numbers from 1 to 4 ....but from right or from left side of the engine ? ...I think so : bike in front of you - front side = correct sequence is 1-2-3-4 from left to right ( by pilot wiew , on the bike , sequence is 4-3-2-1 ) .......it's ok ????

1-4 from the rider's left while riding. Actually, since the coils fire 'wasted spark', it really doesn't matter whether you have 1234 or 4321, so long as the wires can reach. It's only when you start plugging things in 1243 (etc) that you start having problems. :grinnod:

As above states, its a wasted spark ignition, where 2 ignition coils feed 4 cylinders and you get a spark twice every 4 strokes ie. just after TDC is passed in the compression and exhast parts of the cycle (the wasted spark being the one that happens between exhaust and induction obviously).
Anyhoo, in a nut shell, one coil feeds cylinders 1 and 4, and the other 2 and 3 so makes no difference which way you count across as long as you make sure 1 coil pack feeds the outer cylinders and the other feeds the inner ones, the actual HT leads don't make a difference as they spark in pairs anyway.
Trying to keep it sticky side down since 1984
