just got delivery of my replacement engine and it has two filler caps for the oil... been outside to check mine and it has one.... the exup servo covers the other fill hole and i think it is permanently sealed....

this new engine appears to be an earlier exup (90??) and mine is a 93. :headscratch: :headscratch:

what a sl*g. :swear :swear :swear

anyone know if the engine will fit?? i dont think there is enough room for the other (inside) filler cap on the new older model? engine underneath the existing exup servo... or maybe just, i could always file the cap down...

i changed my mind i am definitely out of love with fzr's at this moment in time........ banghead banghead banghead

The 90 exup engine has an external oil cooler annd "paper" filter. The 93 engine has an intergrated oil cooler and screw on filter. The early engine will physically fit, but the oil cooler problem is far more complex. It has been comprehensively covered on the www.exup1000.co.uk forum.

It is "fittable" but not easy.

thanks for the info icequeen,

i've been told that i need to get hold of an 90 R oil cooler and block off the hose that goes to the existing integrated oil cooler from my RU 93 radiator. Apparently the output pipe from the coolant pump on the 90 R has a different connection on the end than the input on the RU 93 radiator.. so i'll need to relace it with some hose.. Find some way to mount the oil cooler to the radiator and that should be it....

i'm sure it wont be as simple as that, bound to be some other problem, but luck favours the brave hopefully...
