My fuel pump on my 94 fzr 1000 quit. Ive seen a points kit for fuel pumps, do they work? Just want some input on this before i spend $ on some thing i might not need. I checked my pump out everything looks clean just no fuel flowing

Have you hooked the fuel pump to the battery and see if that works? Could be a relay. Never heard about the rebuild kits... any low preasure automotive fuel pump will work fine.
Have you checked ebay or posted a wanted ad??

i havent hooked it up directly to the battery yet but i have checked ebay for the part. there are a few out there. i didnt know about using another pump though that sounds good but everytime ive asked someone about that they always say the same thing" you might blow yourself up!". ill hook the battery to it tonight

I read the thread you posted. i ender up getting vitually the same fuel pump thats in the pictures. it works but the bike sitll isnt running right. I know it should have more power especially on take off. also i havent figured out how to get the idle to stay adjusted. the bike fires fine with the choke on, idles fine too until it reaches operating temp then the idle jumps way up to nearly 4000. I turn it down but it seems to always be to low so the bike quits unless you rev it so i turn it back up, even the smallest adjustment seems to be to much. should i clean the carbs or is a valve adjustment in my very near future. Im in atlanta ga, 95 fzr 1000 engine stock, just changed the plugs, exup works fine, the bike doesnt sound very smooth either, what now?

I would say clean and synch the carbs BEFORE you go tearing into the top end. That's probably all it needs

1KJ,
no matter what the weather mine requires "choke" to start it will climb to 3k revs I turn the choke back so she revs at about 1.5k - 2k revs and ride her for probably ten minutes before closing the "choke".
Not until that point will I set the actual idle for the warm engine and my rev needle flickers 1.2K down to approx 500/600 rpm. Just about everyone on this list will tell you a cold FZR engine is a PIG to ride.
+5 on the clean & synch (not just static synch !) if you have no synch tool look in the WIKI HOW-To's for the DIY synch tool

James,
your welcome, FZR's are nice but are not meant as art work but to ride hence the input, good luck this week end :-}

cracked the carbs open and found holes in my diaphrams, cleaned every thing really well and it made a difference. Now the issue im dealing with is an idleing problem of some sorts. I have the idle set and it runs around 1200 when its sitting but when i start riding the idle jumps up to 3500 some times 4000. so i stop rev it one time and itll idle back down for a min but then it jumps right back up. the bike runs fine it just has this one problem and i dont know where to start

A jumping / hovering idle is usually too lean on the mixture screws.

right on ill start adjusting saturday see what happens also, the airbox seems like a piece of shit is the any aftermarket replacements for that thing, something that doesnt take up so much space. i notice that the bike runs different without it but not in a good way. i was thinking of mounting the battery under the tank for more storage under the seat. any thoughts?
