Hi - I have a FZR1000 (89) model, But I cant find the voltage regulator. !
The manual says its under the left side tail section but I cant find anything that resembles it - wierd
anybody got a picture of where it should it ? its a non running bike and it may well be that it has been removed but there are no obvious wires either
cheers

thanks for that - the plot thickens - there is definately no VR, mounting plate or wires in this areas in the 1K.
the only place it could possibly go is on the left side toward the battery box (on the subframe above the rider peg). There is a connector plug here with 2 wires here (brown and blue) that are not connected but there is no obvious place for the VR ?
there is a small white rectangular plastic piece under the seat in from of the battery box (about the size of your little finger) - could this be it ?
any thoughts
cheers

if you go on the link to the wiki ive provided it sounds like the same place as th 600 there will be a place on the subframe please read all, as the backing plate is essential to allow the cooling of the vr the biggest problem on them is fried vrs as for the wiring your manual should help or mawler is your man

sussed it - it's in the generator apaprently (not external). Managed to confirm this with the dealer. It appears to differ depending on what wire diagram you look at !
cheers

The 1k uses an Alternator similar to what is on a car. So yes, it's internal. They also used the same alternator from 87-95 which is also the same one used on the YZF750
