Clutch handle frozen

Ok, here's the deal. My clutch went sloppy the other day after a guy rebuilt my forks (he isn't a good mechanic). Anyhow I bled the air out of the clutch system and all was well. Anyhow my clutch started to slip so I ordered a new one and in the mean time I pulled the old Clutch out.

New clutch came in and I installed it. Grabbed the clutch handle and it is frozen solid, it will not disengage the cHlutch it is Rock hard. All was well before I pulled the old clutch. Anyhow on a hunch I put the old clutch back in and the problem was still there.

Here are the two things I think it maybe - frozen clutch rod or the clutch slave cylinder froze up due to the release of pressure on it when I removed the old clutch. My bike is an 88 so it's probably the original slave. Any thoughts? Anyone have similar problems?

first off if you street fighterd your bike let me buy some fairings! :deal: i wrecked my 88 man :drink: have you tried removing the clutch then messing with the lever? if i were you i would start from the top and work my way down, that way you cover the easiest stuff first, remove the slave from the bike then see if the clutch lever wil move, im not sure what a slave looks like from the inside but you might be able to see the problem with it off. then you can look deeper into the bike. take my advice with a grain of salt im sure youve already tried all that. if anything keep us updated on your progress and we will try and help

Wait... so you can't move the clutch handle at all? or you move it and nothing happens? did you make sure they pushrob is in there and install right? And did you do just the friction plate or what? Did you put it back together in the correct order? Seems wierd the slave or master would kick at the same time doing the clutch if it was working fine before... doesn't hurt to check them out just seems wierd.

At a guess, and since you reinstalled the old clutch and had the same issue.

Did you align the pressure plate to the clutch hub? if not the clutch is already disengaged = no further movement & a Tight clutch lever (hydraulic clutches are self adjusting).

These are the alignment marks on a FZR600 (the 1k could be similar)

Just a though

Good Luck

Ok I found the problem, my clutch handle broke where it meets the piston at the master cylinder. Just it just gave out due to age. I'm not turning my bike into a street fighter. My plastics are in great condition. I'm restoring this bike back to factory specs. This is what I've done thus far:

Replaced head gasket
Valve adjust
Cleaned, adjusted, synced carbs
New front rim
New clutch
Welded exhaust
Returned to stock height
K&n clip ons
Stage 1 jet kit
Dnd slip on

Fee other things I forget
