You should be able to run a 16mm or (roughly) 5/8th bore master from the likes of brembo. The TL 1000r master works as well. I'm still considering going with radial masters on both sides so that would be 16mm for the clutch and 19/18mm for the brake since I want to keep my 6 pots. Hope that helps.

For my 600, I got a nice Brembo radial MC from an Aprilia RSV and it came with a CRG lever. Its a 16mm I think. I also have a Nissin radial from a ZX-14, 18mm IIRC, that I intend to use for another project. That project will be using the same slave cylinder as the FZR1ks. The ZX14 MC was pretty cheap off ebay if I recall.

Okay thanks guys. For the Brake side, I'll probably end up going with something along the lines of an newer R6 like you did Duane, as far as clutch thanks for the sizes. Thanks Freeze, Aprilla too then would work. I figured the italian bikes would make for a good donor..

As far as the res I was planning on just tapping the top triple like on the brake side and place it there. I think it'll clean it up some, besides I dont like how the clutch res sits on an angle.. would rather it be as close to level as possible..

You can't use the 748/916 series master on the clutch side. Well you can, but it will hit the switch for the horn / lights and not function very well. I'm using a Radial Master from a 848 and love it. Clears everything and was easy to convert the micro switch to plug into the stock wire harness.

I'm also using a R1 Radial master for the brakes. They work well with the 6 piston calipers. They were a little spongy at first, but after I added the steel braided lines they are rock solid.

cad..clutch as usual lol no pun intended.. I was looking at some off the s2r monsters and it looked like i'd have problems, so I'll look for th 848 masters, what year r1? I'm going to be throwing gold spots on as they'll go with the look of the bike and the teflon coated pistons seem appealing. Looks very clean that way. Cheers

No problem.

I had a 748 clutch master laying around so I tried that one first and discovered the problem. All of the Ducati Brembo MC's use the same sizing so if they are traditional styles, then they will all hit the switch. It has to do with the way the handle is pivoted and the plunger device. The light switch on the Yamaha is just too damn big and the handle gets hung up on it. Hence I went to the 848. Some of the newer models are now using the 848 style radial mount. So take a look around for the S4R, Streetfighter, and the new Multistrada. I've seen prices for the S4R items a lot lower than the 848 even though they are the same items.

As far as the R1 master goes. It doesn't matter. According to the parts fiche, the Radial master cylinder was the same size and model for the R6 and R1 (both 4 piston and 6 piston radial calipers). So you can go with any year. Just get yourself a good deal on one.

Side note, I've been messing around with a set of 6 piston radial calipers from a R1 to see if I can make an adapter plate to bolt to the YZF750 forks. Not successful - yet. But I'm going to keep trying.

Nice, thanks for the info, So I'll look for an M/C for the clutch either off an 848 or another duc or an aprila. I think the 848 may share the same M/C as the 1098 and 1198 as well so that'll give me something to look into. I know I've read somewhere that you can buy adaptors for the radial brakes but I think they were fairly pricy...

what type of metal are you using? I hope you are succesful which im sure you will be... It'll be nice to see something any maybe have it made up for a group buy or something ReelRazor may have the equipment to make such a thing possible.

You're running the 310mm rotors on the YZF correct? If my memory serves me right, The used the 310mm rotors on the 750's and 94-96 1k's.

Also, I seen the s4r, looks like it'll work, the s2r though I dont think will... Are you using the stock res on the R1 Master or the R1's? ...

I like how easy it is to bleed the system too on these.. the bleed nipple attached to the MC. Was bleeding my friends brakes on his 08 R6 when he got SS lines, and I had fluid coming out...looked and seen that...said hmmm, bled it like 2 or 3 times and it was better then new.

The R1 master cylinders did differ over the years. 04-06 had an OEM Yamaha radial brake MC. 07+ R1 and R6 had a Brembo radial brake MC. 16mm. I run a Brembo radial MC from a 07 R6 and LOVE it. It will grab the hell out of the brakes, but I have yet to overbrake with it since its got pretty nice feedback. I had to get used to it and at first did not like it after upgrading from a conventional R1/R6 brake MC, but once I got used to it I wont go back.

If you want an 18mm radial MC from a stock bike, the zx-14 is again the choice, but the Nissin MCs are a little larger and bulkier then the brembos.

The Aprilia Brembo clutch MC is nice and compact, and the banjo bolt is in a different location, so you may have more clearance. I cant comment on MC clearance since its not an issue for me. The MC I have is from a 07 RSV, and was a lot cheaper than the comparable Ducati radial MCs. I "THINK"(still havent found a concrete answer for sure), but I think the bore is smaller on the Aprilia MC I have, but it works great and feels great, now if I could just get my slave cylinder setup dialed in right...

My hydro clutch post has a few different options and info about MCs that Im glad I typed down because Ive forgotten some of it already :D Check it out

Freeze.. I thank thee. That is indeed what I am looking for and extremely clean.. that's from an rsv? I think, I'll go that route. I think 2 brembo m/c's powder gold would look dope. Cheers, I'll be on the look out for the 07+'s of the R series(minus r6s) and if I can get an rsv m/c cheaper then 125 its golden. I've seen gold spots on fleabay for around 100 for the pair and cheaper. I have speigler ss lines already even though its got the god damn split so I think I may also upgrade them to new dual system(2 lines) rather then the 3..shed some wieght loll
