FZR / YZF exhaust

There's a company selling Viper exhausts that claim they fit 89-95 FZR1000's plus FZR/YZF600's. Is it true that these pipes are interchangeable? I don't see any other manufacturer claiming the two pipes are the same so I have hesitations on purchasing the pipe. However my options are very slim.

In no way will the pipes from a 1k going to fit a 600. Not only are the exhaust ports farther apart on the 1k, but the sizes are different.

Just to be clear... Are you talking about a full system or just a slip-on? Cad is right in saying that the header doesn't fit, but I recently spoke with a member on here about the diameter of the header where it attaches to the mid-pipe and that was the same as the 600.
So if you're buying a slip-on it should be no issue, but if it's the headers too I would take a pass on it.

Even this is going to depend on the manufacture a little bit. The reason is that some of them create different mid pipes. And the spot of the header collector will be a little different between the 1k and the 600.

It's the Viper slip on - Fly N Cycle sells it. Here's a link to the connecting pipe (they sell them as a kit, canisters are universal).

The reason I ask is that Delkevic makes a pipe for the YZF and when I contacted them they said the didn't have one for the FZR 1000. The Delkevic looks better and is a bit cheaper so I'd rather have that. However I didn't know if the pipes would work.

Seems like your looking for a Mid pipe and slip-on. What you are looking at should work, but you would be better off asking Fly N Cycle and Delkevic some questions. Same question to both companies. You need to know what the ID dimension of the mid pipe is at both ends of the pipe and what the OD dimension of the can is. They could be different and not work together. But, if the dimensions work out and the ID of the mid pipe will allow it to mount to the header, then there should be no reason for it not to work.
Then the only thing to worry about is will it look short or stick out too far from the back wheel? Reason I wonder about that is that while I have never seen a stock 600 can, the 1k exhaust can is huge. If the mid pipe was designed for the 600, it could put the can in the wrong position on a 1k.

My worry is that the bend won't be right and like you said, stick way out from the bike. That is not a good look. Also, if it sticks out too far, it might not match up with the mount on the rear footpeg.

uhmm.... any GOOD muffler place can weld up a stainless midpipe to get it to fit right... just throwing it out there.. If you can think it, it can be done.
