Oil cooler setup between 89 & 94

Backstory is that I got a 94 FZR1000 with a bad knock in the engine. I bought a running engine but its an '89. Everything is the same except the oil cooler. I tried to mount the 94 oil cooler onto the 89 engine but it does quiet fit. The center 'post' that it would mount too seems to stick out a little bit on the 89 engine.
Does anyone know of a way to mount the 94's oil cooler on an 89 engine? Like is there some spacer adapter that I could use? Or do I just need to buy an oil cooler off an 89 & install that on my 94?
Thanks guys

The difference is pretty big. The 94 oil cooler is, in a nutshell, run off of the water pump and the 89 is run off the oil pump. My suggestion would be, if you already the hard line fittings that bolt to either side of the 89 motor, easier to get yourself a cooler that will fit. I'm sure there are a few aftermarket automotive coolers that will handle the job and possibly do better than the stock one.
Here are some visual aids:
89 Oil cooler:
89 Oil filter:
94 oil cooler
94 oil pump:
Hope that gives some insight. I'm not saying updating the 89 motor use the 94 oil cooling system isn't possible. I'm just suggesting the, would be, easier route.

Do you have any leads for specific aftermarket coolers that would work or should I just look for a used stock 89 cooler?
& my radiator is from the 94... so it has the extra hose coming off the bottom that would have connected to the 94 oil cooler. Can I just connect this point to where the 94 oil cooler would have connected? (So run the hose like it would be on the 94 oil cooler with the cooler removed & the two hoses connected at that point).
