Exhausts... brainstorming!

I've been seeing alot of posts between the 3 forums im on for the FZR and people always seem to ask where they can get exhausts for their 1k's and yada yada yada so I've been thinking of asking some questions to maybe further explore other options..

Is the exhaust flange on the end of the exup header the same as the thunderace? I mean they should be 2" in diameter right? same motor for the most parts... Also how about early model R1's... do they utilize the same Exup valve before the midpipe? Is it 2" in diameter...

Reason asking is that my D&D has seen better days.. I know things can be made to fit which im aware and have done...Just trying to find some cheaper and maybe more availible pipes to work with... Actually just some models that have a 2" midpipe..

On my FZX700 I took a kerker header, 02 R6 can, Chopped it, and welded it in place and it was one mean ass F*cking exhaust...

I suppose I'll be browsing eBay whilist this gets read for some info. Im really just hoping to open some doors for other people as means to other options.

cheers

Thunderace exhaust is a complete swap. Only difference is the muffler bolts on to the header instead of slipping on. Otherwise they are identical. Early r1 is as Coreo stated. The exup motor is in the same place on the frame and the exup cables are the same between all 3 bikes. I'm using exup cables from a 99 r1. However, early r1 headers are different shape in how they curve around the engine. I've also heard that they are smaller in diameter but I have no way of verifying that. I can't say for sure that they use the exup motor or valve as the Ace and FZR either. As you said and have done it will be a mix and match. R1 headers are plentiful still so that may be a viable option in that respect. I considered them when I was exhaust shopping as well.

Yeah the header won't work at all but just was interested on the diameter, thanks Duane. Finding an aftermarket slip on for these things that's in stock is harder and harder. Sort of want to do a moto gp style exhaust n mount it upwards n back... Whooo knows. I want to get my yzf swingarm on first along with a 954 subframe swap n then go from there...

Cheersss

Are there any other bikes that a slip on might fit from? The only thing I can find for the FZR is Viper which looks nice. I found a Delkevic on Ebay which looks like a quality pipe with a good sound, however they don't have any for a FZR1K. The have them for the FZ, Thundercat, First gen R1's, would any of these work? For $138, you can't go wrong. You can go to Delkevic.us to see the different models available.
Also, on Fly n Cycle's site, the mid-pipe is the same for the FZR1000,FZR 600(94-96),YZF 600R (96-04). Not sure if that's correct or not.
