94' FZR1000 manual

Post by nakedplaykid »

I"m new to this but so far it's helped. Hello everyone>>>I'm the nooby. I bought a 1994 FZR1000 about two months ago. What a machine!!!! Anywho, I know it should run better than it does. It's sluggish at low RPM's. Great when it gets up to say ...5 or 6 grand and above but it feels like it's running out of fuel at low R's. Can anyone give me a direction on this? It's piped. has a D&D. I was reading some forums and i now realize that the EXUP valve is not in use. I looked under the tank and the servo is disconnected. I'm figureing some things out but it's alot different than my 94'ZX6. One more thing, could someone give me a link to download a manual for this rocket? I appreciate all your help and thanks..... Noob

Welcome. Sounds like you have a couple things happening. Either your stock header has had the exup valve removed (or wired to stay open) or you have an aftermarket header with no exup in it. That was the case when I first dragged my 94 1000 home.

Your header, if it's stock, should look like the one on the right in this pic. The header on the left is what was on my bike when I got it (a Yoshimura Race)

The bike would pretty much stumble on itself until roughly 4-5K rpm and then would "wake up". Is this anything similar to what you have goin on? I ended up swapping headers and using exup cables from a 99 R1 (same cables along with ones from a YZF1000R ThunderAce). Coupled that with a factory pro jet kit (along with two days of synching and tuning the carbs) I have no flat spots in my RPM range and the bike runs awesomely.

As far as the manual, I think yamaha made specific manual and i know Haynes made one. We have a download in the WIKI for the 90 1000 (only a few differences between then an 94). I have the actual copy of this manual and it's what I use. The torque specs listed seem to be the same across the board for EXUP 1000s-I've had no issues.

A download of the manual can be found here:
