FZRSupport: the FZROnline Archive

The Ignitor unit on my 1987 FZR 1000 is broken and I need a replacement.

I have been told that the unit from a FZR750 works also, can someone back this up?

Which others fit?
If anyone has one please let me know.

Some how I don't think it will work. Could be wrong though.

I doubt it will just plug in fire the bike but it can be "made" to work just as a 400 ignition box can be wired to fire a 600 motor. It's just a matter of knowing the wiring. That being said, I would advise against going that route since the parameters are different you could probably burn up the motor. If you're looking for better performance, a set of Accel or Dyna coils, a proper jet kit (for example Stage 3), and freer flowing exhaust would do the trick-along with a proper tune. If you want more tuning you may want an aftermarket TCI box like what Ignitech (<--click there) offers.

If you still need one here is a CDI bos off fleaBay... kinda pricey though, but if it makes her run, ya need one...
