Hey all

I have a 1988 FZR 1000 that sat for 5 years before I bought it...

I thought I cleaned the carbs real well, but when I fired it, it "stumbles" when I give partial it throttle. Doesnt spit or sputter, just kinda hesitates and then will go again.

I rode it about a 1/4 mile, when it hit 4000 rpm, it took off like a shot and ran great. Just wont run correctly from idle to 4K.

It will barley idle at 1200 rpm, I have to keep it going by throttle....

When its cold, it starts real easy, fires immediately with the choke on...revs good with the choke on also...

I completely disassembled all the carbs and blew them out with carb cleaner and compressed air...

Any ideas ??

C'mon Sweekster, I need you buddy !!!

Haha. thanks again for the vote of confidence.

Is the bike using stock jetting or the likes of Factory Pro or Dynojet? Either way it sounds like this bike needs the carbs synched and the float height set. Try setting the float height about 14mm. Build your self a synch tool (the two bottle method is recommended) and you'll be able to dial them in. Honestly, I'm not all the familiar with Genesis carbs as they are totally different than EXUP carbs so I can really only give you general ideas as to where I would go in your situation. Haunter has brought back two Geneisis 1K's from near death and could possibly shed some more light as I really only have a candle.
