Why don't you put a timing light on it with the ign that is currently in it? Get a baseline....you can even map the curve if you have a digital timing light.

And, you know that your FZR doesn't run CDI ignition?..and by "aftermarket CDI" you either mean another TCI ignitor, or you are converting to CDI (coils, pickup, CDI box)

Reelrazor - do you know of any DTL with a tach that goes over 9990? I've noticed that our little toys do seem to go a little faster... :-D

reelrazor u r right it is a tci just made a mistake :duh:
i curently use the vance powerpack but i also have one of these
http://www.ignitech.cz/english/aindex.htm
modified the loom so i can either install the powerpack or the igniteck tci but need the timing curve
to program it corectly.
as far as timing light is concerned i dont have one and dont know how to use it either
u see my fzr doesnt got o any mechanicks since they have ruined me in the past
everything thats done to it has been done by me at home after lots of reading and also some things i couldnt do
were done by experts abroad (for example instalation of falicon rods on my crankshaft)
I made a decision a long time ago to do this as my first FZR's motor was completely destroyed by a well known here in
athens mechanic
maybe someday i will buy a timing light but was wondering if someone in this forum already knew
ty for replyong all

My otc unit stops displaying rpm past 9999 but it still flashes. Gotta have a "two stroke" switch on it tho to get accurate readings with our waste spark ignitions.

All the published spark curves I have dealt with have maximum advance far below redline (advance usually ending at the engine's torque peak).

But since othiporos said he has an ignitech, I can hardly believe they don't have a base map for an FZR1000...

they ship the tci with the map of an fz 750 if i recall corectlly
which doesnt work
In a week i am starting to do my latest mods on the bike and then its off to the dyno
I will try both ignitions again and will post the dyno sheets
hope my work on my baby will be something that all will enjoy
( first need to empty my living room though to bring the lady inside :))

BTW the ignitech has shown some really good signs like the motor running far more smoothly
thats why i am thinking about using it instead of the powerpack

I'm looking at the 400 and 600 maps right now, and they have changing set-points (with numerous flat regions) right up to the limiter cut-off.
