hi i just got my fzr 1000 and i love it i am going to chang oil but i noticed there are 2 sight glasses on the right side when i stand the bike up straight the one inner glass shows the motor oil but the outter glass shows nothing what is the outter glass and what do i add to fill it up and were do i add it realy need help my e-mail if you want to e-mail is cmkemp69@cfl.rr.com thxs

Well...In my 94 1000 I'm running 3 quarts of Valvoline 4t motorcycle oil (the bike take 3.2 quarts if I remember correctly) with a Purolator Pure One PL14610 oil filter . Rotella or Motul oil will work as well they just cost more per quart. Just don't put in car oil. There should be a black knob on the right side of the engine. That's where you fill it. The drain plug is on the left side down by the kickstand. I think it's a 17 or 19mm wrench that you use (been a while since I changed the oil).


Recommended filters:

About 2.5 inches long.
Purolator Pure One PL14612
Mobil M1-108
Bosch 3300

About 3.25 inches long.
Purolator Pure One PL14610
Mobil 1 M1-110
Bosch 3323
WalMart SuperTech ST7317

I do not have a 1k so when you sat 2 glasses is this like a double glazed window ?
A picture would be real helpful as an X yam dealer I may have seen it before once I know what I am seeing if you catch the drift.

I think thats what he is saying geo but not for sure.

Just checked out my bike. You guys have it exactly. It's a double pained site window.

I got the same.
The outer lower area is frosted looking and means nothing.
The inner clear area is what your looking for for oil level.
There is indent in ally casting to the right hand side showing max .
I fill mine to half way up the clear glass with bike standing up straight.
