Though not as thorough or nice as schmo's project. I have also been cleaning up the old 1k. I powder coated the wheels snowcap pearl, and the triple clamp flat red. Got the rotors and calipers ready for powder but can't decide on the color scheme for em.

I used a different technique to tape the front wheel that didn't work as well. Still need to clean up the tap lines on the front wheel. I just use a small razor blade to trim it back

White with polished rims is nice. You got some pictures of the bike? Swing arm looks the biz too...

Thanks, it's still apart right now, think I am going to powder coat the tank top. The bike was repainted metallic red and still looks pretty good needs a little touch up, but the tank had fuel sit in it for almost 15 years and needed quite a bit of work. Trying to decide if I want to match the metallic red or do a two tone scheme on it. Or just repaint the whole thing .

Those swing arms polish up nicely.
I am half way done with mine.
As far as tape for the wheel goes i use this flexibe painters tape that works really well for curves like a wheel.
It feels like a flexible plastic. I got it from a friend at a body shop.
I do like the polished and white also!

Nice looking bike and interesting choice on that top triple and the wheels, I like it.
Painters tape will not work for powder coating, you will end up with a bit of fire in your oven.

Re: Cleaning up the old beast a bit.
Thanks, I was using just regular painters tape, and pulling it off just after the powder flows which works quite well. The one with the messed up lines was done with high temp tape for powder coating. I left it longer as it would not burn like painters tape, but the paint strung with it as I pulled it off. Should have pulled it off sooner. Now I am using a combo of high temp tape and aluminum foil, but the painters tape is easiest and quickest to work with.
