Hi,
I recently purchased a 1995 FZR1000 and I'm trying to find the cause of a small fuel leak, took the seat and tank off and found some items / pipes that I'm not familiar with (please see the photo I linked to).
The usual pipes are there such as main fuel pipe from tank, tank breather pipe, air box vent pipe (the only one not labelled but is the larger diameter pipe at top of photo). I also marked the fuel pump.
However, there is one item ("what is this") plus two pipes I am not familiar with. The two pipes (arrowed as "where should this go to?") were not attached to anything prior to tank removal.
Anyone any idea what these are?
Thanks as always.

Re: Any idea what these fuel line pipes are?
I believe the hoses could be the carb overflow hoses...They should connect to t pieces between 1&2 and 3&4 carbs.
Don't know what the other bit is..

("what is this") - looks like the fuel vapor canister on a California model. In the U.S. the California model has a canister that stores the fuel vapors when the engine is not running. The fuel vapors are routed to the combustion chamber to be burned when the engine starts-up.

Thanks, I think you're right. It's odd as the bike was never registered in California.djalbin wrote:("what is this") - looks like the fuel vapor canister on a California model. Any idea if this can be removed? It does look like two of the pipes go to the carbs or engine but as for the loose pipe, I can't see anywhere where it would connect to. Hopefully the Haynes manual (when it turns up) will give me some clue?

Re: Any idea what these fuel line pipes are?
I think there was one hose that was open to the atmosphere (connected to the bottom of the canister).

Re: Any idea what these fuel line pipes are?
Update: Yes, djalbin you are correct, my new Haynes manual confirms one is open. The other goes to a second valve under the fuel tank. I never had reason to look under it as UK models don't have such a thing.
Some of the lines run to the carbs so I will leave it all hooked up for now.
Thanks again.

Re: Any idea what these fuel line pipes are?
The only U.S. models that have this canister are the California models. California had different emissions regulations from the rest of the U.S. So there were the "USA - except for California" models and the "USA - for California" models. Apparently your bike was originally designated for sale in California.UK models don't have such a thing
