Egnine swap/gearbox swap?

Hey guys ... i need to change either my gearbox or swap the engine to my fzr1000 genesis, because of the dropping 2nd gear issue that we all know about.
The thing is i have a spare engine engine from the previous owner, but it had not been run for at least 2-3 years ... i believe it was stored without oil too which makes it even worse..no papers for the spare, but i was told it has about 65000 km on the clock ..
Which option would you chose (the guys who had similar problem and either swapped an engine or swapped a gearbox) ... As far as i can see it i have a couple of options.
1. swap with the engine i have without too much work on it (just putting oil to run it a bit and driving in without opening it, because of the gaskets that are hard to find
2. get another engine to swap (really hard to find here in Denmark)
3. open my current engine which has 90000 km on the clock and repair the gearbox (expensive as hell)
4. find a fzr750 gearbox and swap them in one of the 2 engines that i have, which will give me an extra 6th gear ... but would still be expensive because of gaskets and overhaul of the engine
The way i see it - opening an engine will cost a lot and will take time .. Since we are all tight on money this is not the option i would prefer .. smile emoticon especially having in mind i will sell my beauty for some newer machine if i have the chance (no worries probably an r1, but no less than 750 supersport smile emoticon )
Also i see that exup engines are much easier to find and then i need to ask is it possible to fit exup engine in a genesis frame from 87-88? smile emoticon
