Gas Tank Interchangeability

Looking for a tank for my FZR 750 i know most 1000 stuff swaps out. We're the tanks any different between years? I'm trying to get my as close to a stock 1988 model as I can.

Not sure about the fzr750. But I know the 87/88 fzr1000 are different than the newer models. Now I'm not sure what the difference from 89-95 are if their are any. I have an 88 with a newer tank and it just doesn't look right or fit right with the back part bolted to the frame the front bolts will not line up.
