Camchain Guide

Hey there people!
My guide is f*ck (furrowed/perished) It has done 80thou KMs,I am presently changing the rings.How much do I have to tear down(again!) to do the guide?
I managed to discover the problem after partialy torqing down the head.Silly me!
-could it be done from underneath with oilpan off?
The guide in question is the long curved one that seems to be bolted in near the crank.I havent got the manual right now!
