I have tried everything I know. Bike is old, I am old, I just want to go riding. I am sure there are some out there who know lots more than I do.

Put the bike away last winter in good running condition. 1st ride this spring, started up ok, seemed to be a little off, rode about 4 miles and it was ok on acceleration but would fall flat when off throttle, slowed down for 35mph speed zone and it just died, would not restart.

Been working on it all spring and summer now. Had carbs out, apart, and cleaned multiple times. Diaphragms seem to be ok but I am no expert. It will start and run on the two outside cylinders, middle two cylinders will run fine if I manually feed them fuel.

Right then;

The diaphragms are quite easy to check;
If when the airbox is off,and you can get it to run on 2 cylinders; all slides should lift somewhere near the same amount as the throttle is opened and revs increase.
The cylinders do not need to be firing to create the vacuum that raises the slides; piston speed does that.

If you can get it to run on four cylinders by adding fuel to the carb throats then you still have blocked passageways or jets.

Over 90% of non running motorcycle problems after prolonged storage are caused by fuel varnish or oxidisation restricting fuel or airflow through the carburettors.

Have you access to an ultrasonic bath to immerse the stripped bodies ?

mine once died as I knocked the throttle off...it was a flat battery

Can't you guys come up with some easy fixes like changing a spark plug.....oh, wait, that is almost as difficult as pulling the carbs.

Ultrasonic has been done, twice......maybe it is still plugged? Battery is fine, now in my 4 wheeler working well. I will try your first suggestion watching the slides, did not specifically do that as described.

Fuel filter, rust flakes in the fuel tank blocking strainer inside tank, fuel pump not putting out, poor connection through fuel relay causing low power output to fuel pump.

Old gas?........Run it without fuel tank and air filter on. Easy to rig up clear hoses from DIY shop. tied to garage rafters. Unplug fuel pump.
