Do they come from Yamaha with identification markings? As I see the top is different with 2nd in the manual.
Its just that the ones I pulled out have no markings at all.

While your waiting for a reply I guess you could gap them, also try to see if they are slightly different in color. Like different alloy's of metal my last set were and I just matched the lighter and darker to the same color 's on the piston. I know this will annoy somebody for a lack of technical merit but that was all I could do and they were OEM in sealed packs with no markings.

I wouldn't expect to see any markings on used rings. If they are there they are either printed or laser etched into the top face ...either way, gone pretty quickly

I have some on order from a long way away.(OEM)
What I am asking is will they be etched/marked in some way on the top surface? as I cant see shite on my old rings.

Some have to be installed a specific way..those are marked....otherwise, unmarked.

The installation specific rings are usually not rectangular in section..they are 'keystone' rings-where the upper and lower faces of the rings are not parallel...generally the upper is tapered inward (thicker at the outer/wearing edge). Rings such as these are self scrubbing...found often in two strokes where the rings are prevented from rotating around the piston-and are thus more prone to carbon/oil buildup.
Most modern four strokes allow the rings to rotate freely and have rectangular section rings that really don't care which way they run...so..those don't need markings.
