Hi

Im having some issues with my coil packs on my 92 fzr, the leads have been trimmed within an inch of their life and I have since found a crack in one of the spark plug caps.

so my question is can i do this mod on a 1k as it only seems to mention 600's

http://fzronline.com/wiki/doku.php?id=c ... _plugs_mod

I really dont fancy forking out for new plug caps and also new coil packs or even worse second hand potentially bad ones.

Im not to bad when it comes to the mechanical things but its the electrical side that gets me.

any input appreciated :)

cheers james

You may need to match the coil resistance or it may fry your CDI box, just thinking it would be better to figure out the resistance of the stock coils and figure out what the replacement coils would do as a combined load on the ignition box. Or in the case of some Yamaha's they added a ballast resistor to keep the coils from over loading the circuit inside the ignition box. But then again you could just let er buck and hope for the best.

The ignition systems of all the FZRs are practically identical. This mod (with the CBR coils) will work for you.

If you're interested, I can offer a plug-in harness for US$70 shipped - no measuring, cutting, soldering, cleaning off of 10yrs of oily gunk ... (COPs not included) :deal:

<ob rant> It's a TCI box, NOT a CDI
