Well, may not be a problem.
Last time at the track, when changing down through the gears, the foot lever, instead of moving say 30mm and stopping solid like it should, when the lower gear is engaged, the lever just kept going down as far as my foot would push it as if there was no stop. (maybe double normal travel)
It changed gears fine, never missed a gear, always selected the correct gear, didn't go through two gears or anything.
It stopped doing it after a while and went back to normal and correct. But it is a bit of a worry
Everything external is good, good splines.
Any explanations for this?
Going out again next weekend. Hopefully it doesn't play up again.
I don't relish the thought of pulling it to bits.

Re: Gear change problem
Pull your clutch cover, the shift mechanism is to the lower left and behind the clutch basket. Have a look while a helper moves the shift lever up and down.

Re: Gear change problem
Thanks Don. That's sortov what I was thinking.
Is the gearbox a typical old school layout where the finger thingy with hooks and a spring on it, that turns the shift drum accessable without splitting the cases? (normally just remove clutch basket)
Or if theres a problem with said shift mechanism, mean I have to split cases?

Re: Gear change problem
The shift cam, fingers, forks etc can be dealt with through the clutch cover and oil pan. If it's the transmission itself, the engine must be torn down to the bolts.

Re: Gear change problem
Took it round the block a couple of times just now and all works fine now.
Lets hope it stays that way.
Cheers
