Has anyone bought a steering damper from E-bay that comes directly from China and was is a good addition or was it even an improvement? I would like to buy ohlins but I'm not there for budget level soo... I'm wondering if anyone out there has had any dealings with lower cost dampers.

Sorry, cant help. But let us know how you get on. I was thinking about steering dampers myself. Ohlins cost probably isn't nessasary, but the Chinese one might be shite.
Is there anything in between? havnt done any research myself.

Is this for a race bike? Dampers for most street bikes are fashion accessories, like 55/190 rear tires.

Race bike for me. Ohlins shock on its way here as we speak. Ass end will be going up. Not really sure if steering damper is nessassary as im not sure if im really capable of pushing my bike too the limit. you may recall what happened last time I tried! :whistle It doesn't feel like it needs a damper. Just conversation.
Cheers.

The Shindy/Daytona was a popular damper for FZRs in the States.I would check out NHK. NHK covers the range from budget to moderate in pricing with the ODM500, ODM2000, and ODM3000E. Both NHK and Shindy/Daytona are made in Japan, and I would trust them, way before a Chinese Ebay option for what is essentially a piece of safety equipment. WebBike in Japan may be a good source for NHK for you, but their selection of Daytonas are really limited.

You could also go with a second-hand OE Ohlins from a ZX6 or ZX10 as a "budget" Ohlins option.
