Hello guys! Just bought a FZR 1000 which is modified a bit to a street fighter.
Image
I have a lot of plans for it still and also need some help from you guys.
Some of my plans( the big mods I won´t be performing before the winter I think).
Green- Done
Yellow- On the way
Red- Not Done

Not Done-New suspension, was thining about R1 front forks with complete triple clamp from R1, have not thought out what to do in with the suspension in the back yet, Tip?
Not Done-Build a new exhaust
Not Done-New tail section( was thinking about KTM RC8)
Not Done-New color
Not Done-New headlight
Not Done-Clean up all of the wiring and lay it up nicer
Not Done-Change the air filter, i have one filter per carb now but in bad quality, need some tip about new filters
Not Done-Change oil, brake fluid and coolant

Here is some pictures:

The mods now:
-Modified tail with GSXR undertail with diode lights
-Diode turnsignals
-New hugger
-New headlights
-Koso Speedo
-New paint on everything
-New paint and renovated head on engine
-Modified seat
-New Tank Lid
-New handlebar

Currently not running, can't understand why but was driving in the rain then it begin to misfire and ran really bad, now after being untouched in the garage for about a week it won´t start..

So I need some information if you guys can help me.
-Does the R1 forks ( about 99-01) fit the fzr, do someone have the measurement on the triple clamp mount on the bike?
-Tip to good cheap airfilters that fits the carb( one filter per carb)
-Tip for getting it started ? :S
-Tip for back suspension

Sorry for the bad writing!

Best Regards Reednuffs

Nice idea. Made me curious as well.

Why not go back to original airbox + filter?

Prioritywise that should be on the top, not bottom. ;)

not starting or poor running could be down to a blocked drain hole in the block that allows water to be released from the spark plug holes when bikes leaned over on side stand. The holes block flooding the plug hole and playing havoc with the electrics

As for R1 front end, spacer for top yolk, swap the stem over and reduce the lock stops on the frame...its not a straight forward task

Thanks for the tip, the holes looked blocked last time I saw, but I didn't know what they where, it makes more sense now :)
Il´l try it later to see if it helps :)
Okay, what does stem mean ? In the sentence "swap the stem over". The other things sound quite allright, just make the spacer at work.

Got it started now, there was water in the sparkplug holes, wiped the plugs and hole clean, but it dosen´t run like it should, its like it runs really heavy and it is no power at all. Took a picture of the spark plugs.
Cyl 1 to the left and so on.

Does anyone here have a clue for what it could be ?

I'm by no means an expert but, that sounds like it is rich, those plugs look like they got hot.

plug #1 (the leftmost one) looks rich, the middle two look fine, the right hand one might even look a tad lean - ceramic looks quite white, they should be a nice tan colour like the middle two.

Nice looking bike, it's amazing how much better a belly pan makes a street fighter look. +1 on the routine maintenance and your suspension upgrade ideas will make it much more fun to ride than a new paint job. That's my thoughts at least.

irregular mixture could be worn emulsion toobs. got to be worth a look at their condition even if its only to eliminate them from the equation

Stem.... is the part that passes through the headstock and the bearings fit onto...the toob piece of the bottom yoke

Mod edit - less beer while posting = properly spelled component names!

Looks like it is the pistonrings. it leaks trew there when i took a cylinder leakage test...
Does anyone know a useable site to order pistonrings and other things like headgasket and other gaskets for my bike.

cmsnl prices are the same as here in the UK for piston rings...ive just bought 4 along with a top of other parts
http://www.cmsnl.com/yamaha-fzr1000-exup_model16740/

they should do shipping to norway.

if you replace the rings get the barrels honed to allow the rings to bed in properly. you might wanna take the time to lap the head in too, or at least clean it of all the gunk that will be on there.
