New here and to the FZR world...

Post by cees2u »

I just bought a 1987 FZR 1000. It's got some messed up plastics and I got a pretty good deal. I plan to turn it into a streetfighter. Can anyone point me toward a step-by-step build of a 1000? I have ideas on most of it, but I would like ideas of how others do things. Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Hey it's good to see you joining the site and if you wait a bit someone with more experience will get back to you, It seems to be riding season and the reply's aren't coming in as fast as they used to during the winter. I think that whatever your plan may be you should go to the board index and look in the street fightered/naked/chopped heading, I think that's what it's called and also see what the "mod king" has been up to as well.

Whatever you do just remember to give it your best and it'll likely be a good ride.

Hey, welcome to the forum. I wish I could help you find an article. Do a search for the 600 since its a little more common. You can at least get some really good ideas. If you wanted you can be patient and find some good plastics on eBay. You might have to wait awhile, but sooner or later you'll find what you need. Going original is pretty cool too.

Hi Cees2u and welcome, I am just starting a build with nice R1 front end and a Fireblade rear subframe, Hagon bespoke rear shock on a '90 FZR Exup 1000. Just posted an update, feel free to look. I have one post on FZR 1000 and one on Hybrid Sportsbike forums. I have had some real good advice on this site, but playing with these things generally opens up a can of worms, however it is real satisfying when it all stats coming together.
