Hi, wanna do a compression test and was wondering if its OK turning the engine over without the coils plugged in? Or might i damage the ignitor or something?
Or do i have to have it all plugged in with spark plugs grounded? or no plugs OK?
A mate of mine did something similar on his Ducati and blew both CDIs He was gutted. Apparently thats just what they all do. Expensive lesson. Oh no thats right, he was jump starting it with a bung battery and running it.
Cheers.

CDI boxes are far more vulnerable than TCI boxes to that sort of thing, but it wouldn't hurt to pull the red and black wires off the coils - no power, no frustrated spark charge.

Thanks Don.
My coils are totally disconnected on the workbench, so il just leave them there.
