Newbie Exup question.

Post by coops »

What is the easy way of knowing the exup valve is working properly? I totaly understand the mechanical side of things. Im just asking if the valve does a cycle when the ignition is turned on/off? Or something like that? Or what RPM should the valve start too move?
Im about too take delivery of my first EXUP. Aparrently its bogging at low RPMS. The valve is my first port of call!!

If you lift the tank (RU) the motor is underneath. When you rev the engine the motor should start to move straight away. If the motor turns correctly check the exhaust side is moving the same.

The motor does not cycle on the RU but if it is moved out of position by hand with the ignition off it will turn to its correct position when the ignition is switched on.

Bogging down, if EXUP related is valve stuck open or missing altogether.

If the valve checks out post back, the next port of call is carbs.

I doubt it.

Is the motor not turning?

the servo is electric operated so wont work if battery is flat.

With a charged battery and ignition OFF, rotate the pulley wheel fully in either direction. Then turn on the ignition and the pulley on the servo motor sould self centre if its working.......... If you hear noises but theres no movement, theres a good chance the plastic gears have shredded teeth inside the servo
If its not broken it dont need fixing
