What paint did you use ?

I have just done similar with a Z1R engine that has lain outside for 30 years.

I used PJ1 at the request of the owner .

One 400cc can just covered the lump with 2 coats.
I have attempted to cure it via a heatgun to aid durability until the engine is eventually run.

Cost is on par with the PJ1.

I wonder how fuel resistant it is until it has had a VHT applied.

That PJ1 does not appear that fuel proof yet and you cannot bake a built engine.

I can foresee tears with the stuff I used......... banghead

I've had a couple of bad experiences with hight temp/higher cost spray can paint but this definitely appears far superior...

Cheers,

Decided that after seeing the quality of the powder coating on sub frame and cradles I'm gonna do the main frame too. As previously discussed it has been polished in its past but getting bike back to as near as original as possible is the goal....and the coating looks amazing....who wouldn't for 80 quid. Im getting aluminium silver for powder coatings, looks close to original.

Well that's the plan at the moment...i have noticed the lack of adjustment front and back. Not sure how good or bad original set up is but I welcome any advice...

The suspension will be very tired at 28 or so years old.

The front springs will have a service limit.

The rear shock would be best upgraded really.

I am unfamiliar how near to the spec of the later FZR 1000R your bike is .

An upgrade using a Kawasaki ZX10 shock is economical for the above later models .

Has your original a remote reservoir ?

I can recommend a man from another forum that totally strips/refurbishes/anodises/replates. shocks for a very economical price....even those that are apparently not serviceable according to the manufacturer.

No remote reservoir so I'm not sure what alternatives are open to me.
fork springs and oil will be changed as a matter of course. .

While I'm on....I've been stripping the carbs today and noticed that the main jets are #114 which I can only assume were changed to suit Devil exhaust can. I've got #110 & #107.5 mains on order. Can you tell me how many clip positions are on the standard needle? The needles in these have 6 positions and clips were at position 3...The book says position 4. There was also a washer under each clip.

Cheers
