Genesis vs Exup?

Hello, I am going to change the engine in my FZR 1000.
So I was wondering if there is big changes between Genesis and Exup ?
My bike is a 1987, is there any problem to mount a 1991 FZR 1000 engine?
If there is some problems, do you guys know what ?

Theres a few folk who have done the swap for the exup motor but i've not seen them online for ages. The EXUP motor is the better option if you're intending keeping its original headers with the valve incorporated as it gives alot better low down torgue and improved midrange above the earlier engine. Youd also have to fit the EXUP loom as it incorporates the servo controlled by the CDI. Airbox and carb clearance will be an issue under the tank too...its not a straight forward swap

Do anyone know where I can get an OK Genesis engine for a nice price?
The prices I have found are almost more expensive then R1, so maybe I should just do that swap?

I don't believe that swap will be any easier, maybe way harder.

I know that it would be harder. But if it is not plug´n play with the Exup engine, why not just take it a few notch up ?

You aren't just taking it up a notch. Even if you just go with the carb'd R1, you're still looking at MAJOR surgery for the frame, the electricals, the fuel and air system ... If you want the later EFI mills, it would be quicker, cheaper, and easier to bolt your FZR wheels to the complete R1 and call it a transplant.
