Hi,

The number 1 piston must be at top dead centre. This is when the crank timing mark shows T.
Next line up the timing marks on the cams with the marks on the cam caps. Dont worry if they dont line up 100%, when you install the timing chain tensioner, it will pull them into line.

If you want, you can pm me your email address and I will send you the pages from the workshop manual.

As usual life gets in the way of working on the bike, so I still havent had a chance to sort the clutch issues out. I have mounted the tank and left side fairing in the interim though, and this is how she looks:

Here's a before and after comparison:

The engine runs well but has an oil leak which I need to track down still. The gearbox is also really stiff, which I'm hoping will loosen up with use. All in all not too many problems for a total rebuild.

Hello, and incredible results I must say! I painted an FZR 600 about 15 years ago the same color blue and while I liked the color it just doesn't seem to fit well with an FZR. The transformation is night and day especially with painting the frame and engine black. I currently have the stock pearl white blue and gold graphics but we will see what I decide to do come time to finally rebuild mine. I tore it apart approximately 15 years ago and it still currently sits apart. Very ashamed of myself.
