I'm having some trouble I suspect its the carbs. the bike runs fine until after I give her some welly it spluters and farts until it dies. But if I turn it off and on after the fuel pump finishes filling the carbs it starts and runs fine again . I'm thinking the floats need to be set up properly. Can someone help or clarify
cheers Jamie.
help me please.

Re: help me please.
Sounds like a clogged tank vent; as the fuel level drops, air has to fill the void or else you draw a vacuum that will prevent any more fuel from flowing; once you switch off and let it sit, the air has a chance to balance the pressure. This happens when you flog it hard because the fuel is flowing out faster.
Next time this happens, pull to the side as quick as you can and open the fuel cap - do you hear a "whoosh" of air?

Re: help me please.
def sounds like fuel starvation...make sure the pipes under the tank arent trapped and the breathers are clear
Re: help me please.
wouldnt hurt to give the carbs a sync also, but i agree with Don and stig. check your fuel filter also, they are easy to change if needed. if you have had the tank off recently, there is a good chance you pinched a fuel line.
I did that.

Re: help me please.
It's fixed, the reserve doesn't work. There was still some petrol in the tank. I stripped it all down, cleaned it and doublev checked everything. Took her for a run to the petrol station and she was still farting, al the way there filled the tank and low and behold everything is fine now. I feel a bit stupid now.
Cheers for the help in the end it was just a lack of fuel problem.

Check that your Main and Reserve hoses aren't switched.

Re: help me please.
could also be some water in the tank. It may be that you were at a level where it was being sucked into the system. When you added more fuel its then taken from the none reserve which is higher up the tank level
worth a look if the bikes been kept outside........

Re: help me please.
i dont think it has a reserve hose, there is only one coming out the tank then it goes to the filter then the pump. The bike is being kept outside the now il get the tourch out and look for some water in the fuel.
cheers again.
cheers again.
Re: help me please.
I got down to the root of the problem the fuel reserve switch was removed so the reserve was not working. iv wired in another switch and all is good now.
