FZR1000 Exup Somikng

Post by chemomche »

i am about to get a FZR100 EXUP 91
the problem is that the bike gives white blue smoke from the exaust when hit the throttle
also the is ticking sound of the engine like camshaft chain(i think it is from that)
should i get the bike(i am swaping it for my Szuki GSX750F Katana 90)
will the smoke be gone if i change the valves rubber sealing or i will have to change the piston rings?

white blue smoke usually suggests coolant intake ie busted head gasket possible head warp.

The answer is how good a mechanic are you ? Is your Katana your daily ride ? the FZR will be down awhile being fixed.

sounds like it needs valve adjustment and a new had gasket, and new rings.

UFF +1 on what George said. I hope this bike is cheep. If your Katana is your daliy ride then keep it and look for another FZR. If it is a warped cylinder head, and it cant be fixed by skimming,it will be very expensive to repair ( replace the head ).

I will be lokking for another bike.....so what should i look for when i examine the condition on a FZR?
