Chain

Post by cecorri »

Hey -

I have a 88' FZR 1K, that needs a chain and sprockets... I have no idea what the numbers mean, 532, 520, 530... I dont even know whats on it now...

Any one have a recommendation on chain size/number ?

Thanks

532 is the stock chain size and new tech 530 is stronger than they used to be.
530 is good choice for road.
520 kit is alot lighter so less revolving mass etc.Not as strong and good for race or if you dont mind replacing more often.

Vortex 520 is what I have on fzr1000 race

If I want to go with a 530 chain, do I have to get sprockets specifically for a 530 ??

Yep. I run a 530 chain on mine with a 17 tooth front sprocket and a 47 tooth rear. But that is stock gearing

the chain pitch should be stamped on the side of the chain on the majority of the links
