Help me please...
Well i brought this up in another thread but I think this is the proper place to do it. My ladt bought this bike for me and the guy she bought it from informed her that it had the wrong fuel pump on it, I guess he bought it from kragen for like 50 bucks and it fit up perfect but now it only stays running at higher RPMs and there is a little smoke when I start it up and it sounds a litte chattery so if someone can help me with a little info it would be greatly appreciated. By the way this has been a great website it has had a ton of info to learn from.

It consumes me....
Re: Help me please...
what color is the smoke?
how many miles is on the bike ?
can you tell where the chattering is coming from ?
can you post a video / audio clip of what is sounds like ?
the Yamaha fuel pump is around $327 new but it looks like Haunter said the one you got should be fine. I don't know anything about non-stock fuel pumps so i can't say whether i think that's the bad part or not... unless the chattering noise seems to be coming from that.
if the bike has over 15,000 miles you might need to have the valve clearances checked, could be out of spec. or perhaps they have never been checked.
it's not the cheapest procedure to pay for but if you don't do it you can destroy the engine if it's out of spec or it will run really crappy and not start right either... or might not start at all.
also, in your "signature" ... (see User Control Panel at upper left of screen) be sure to put what year and model your bike is, so people will have an idea of where you're coming from, and any major modifications you may have. Also put your location... i forget where you put that, i think it's under profile information, and will appear below your avatar. post an avatar pic if you want... if you don't have an Avatar Sizer program you can get one free, just google search or post a picture in your gallery and i can re-size it for you.
Oh yeah, and welcome to the forum.
