clutch plates

Post by dustydes »

Hi

In need of advice
Just pulled my clutch apart and on putting back in I noticed that 3 friction plates have 01 stamped on them, and 1 has 02, no other plates except the outer plate with slot are marked.
There are 9 plates, including center plate and outer plate that are different

7 plates shout be identical ??????
1 centre plate and cushion spring
1 outer plate

Keep your plates the way they are. The center plate with the wave spring (and increased ID / reduced surface area) worked great to reduce clutch lever effort for the TZ125, but was a critical weak point for the 1k. Many clutch failures were the result, and the modified plate and wave spring were replaced by a standard plate in ... '93?

For now will be using the old plates, when the bike gets back on road will replace with new. Just seemed a bit strange
