R1 / FZR Front End Questions - what works with what?
I’m swapping a R1 front end on my ’98 FZR600, but figured the R1 Garage would be the best place to get some R1 specifics answered. I have a set of ’08 R1 forks and a 02-03 R1 lower triple with an FZR stem pressed in. From what I can tell, those work together. (i’m measuring forks = 54mm, lower tripl...

Re: Bike Cuts Out at Speed - Help!
Ok. I'm pretty sure this is an ignition coils issue.
When it dies the tach drops, but the engine is still turning over while coasting to a stop.
Any recommendations on coil assemblies?
Go for OEM, or are there any good upgrades / aftermarket?

Re: Bike Cuts Out at Speed - Help!
Another buddy thought it was something in the ignition, maybe a short in a switch (Run/Stop switch, coils, or kickstand kill-switch). So today I fiddled around with possible electrical problems, cracking open some switches and making sure no wires under the gas tank were being pitched. But you have ...

Bike Cuts Out at Speed - Help!
Hey y'all. I'm in the middle of a month long tour and need some help. Scenario: Either accelerating hard or just gently, the power just completely cuts off. No burble, no nothing. The tach just drops to 0. It seems to only happen in 5th / 6th gear, and what's particularly odd is that you'd think the...

Running a Little Rough
Over the last month or so my '98 FZR600 has started running a little rough. We're in the middle of the hot Austin summer, and I've had to do a bit of start & stop errand running lately, and the main symptom seems to arise from that. When the bike is real hot, and I get stuck at a couple of lights it...

Re: Regular Maintenance
Awesome. Thank's guys.
Any recommendations on clutch plates?
And I always hear people gripping about not having all the shims they need once they've got it open.
Any advice on that part?
Thanks again...

Regular Maintenance
So, I've just got some general questions to throw out there. Working with a nearly entirely stock '98 FZR600. I had the valves done two summers ago before a 18,000 mile ride that summer. So that plus the ~8,000 I've put on it since has me wondering if it's about time for another valve job. Yes? No? ...

Re: quick choke / idle question
thanks guys! yeah, reelrazor, i do the same thing. put my boots on, walk outside, start it full choke, let it run for 10 tens or so, then drop it down about halfway and walk back inside to put the rest of my gear on. by the time i'm geared up the bike is warm. i just wish the choke was a little more...

quick choke / idle question
my fzr has always done this, and i've always thought it odd, but never got around to asking the forum. when i start the bike from cold w/ the choke on, it revs up to ~4,000rpm and holds there. i saw in another thread that it is supposed to drop back down once warmed up a bit, but it never does. is t...
