POP at start and now nothing
I have an FZR 600 / 400 which I haven't riden for years. I tried to jump it with an old car battery the other day (not even connected to a car etc). the dash lights came on but as soon as I went to start it there was a pop which sounded like something shorted out but it came from the front end of th...

Re: rear rad and fan
i was wondering about the computer fan idea actually. I assumed they would have insufficient volume to meet the need but I will have a look at that as it would obviously be the simplest solution. As far as fan placement ANY fan would have to go on the front of the rad which i was concerned about due...

rear rad and fan
I have a 1988 fzr400 frame with a 600 motor in it and I have found that there's no room for the rad fan. Not an issue if the bike is moving but of course in traffic.... bad. I was thinking of adding a small rear rad above the rear wheel with a fan. is there a wiki on such a mod? is there another way...

Re: Front Wheel Alignment
k. tried this and it made no difference... at all. I topped up the fork oil a touch and that seemed to do it. There's a bit of oil around the top of the bushing so I'm guessing the new seals didn't do the trick and I'm still loosing some oil here and there.

Re: Front Wheel Alignment
found this on another site so credit goes where credit is due as it should. I have not tried this yet but gonna give it a go. any comments on the process? 1. Remove upper and lower fairings 2. Remove front tire 3. Place axel back into the forks, do not screw in the axel bolt 4. Loosen the lower and ...

Re: Front Wheel Alignment
Tire pressure is fine and the rear wheel is fine. The only thing I can think of that might allow for the front wheel to move off axis is the fork fluid levels, am I wrong? Everything else seems to be fine as far as fork hight etc etc.

Re: Front Wheel Alignment
for sure. Some thing is out of whack in the front end. I haven't touched the back end in about seven years and everything looks good there.

Front Wheel Alignment
Question. Got the bike on the road for the first time this year yesterday and noticed the handling is completely out of whack. (1988 FZR 400 frame with FZR 600 motor). in a straight line it is "OK" but tends to have a SLIGHT pull to the right. It's a fairly heavy duty fight to get the bike to lean p...

Re: Benefits of replacing fork seals?
lol... brains over balls in this case, a rarity in my world but was due to the fact that I was actually just about out of the right hander with a red light comming up and the bumper of a car comin up faster and the 18 wheeler coming the other direction so not a lot of options. Ordinarily it would ha...

Handeling / Tracking
Have a handling / tracking issue. Managed to get my 400/600 project back on the road (thanx for the help with that BTW). It tracks in a fairly straight line but seems to have a fair bit of pressure coming back on the left grip. The bike has been sitting for a number of years and I'm wondering if thi...

Re: 1990 FZR 400/600
It's ALIVE! Digitty diggity diggity, allllllllllright. Out of frustration I replaced all the plugs and the fuel filter, topped it up with some gas and gave it kick in the arse and pop, away it went! Kindda surprised me and being 9:30pm when it happened, scared the crap out of the wife and kids too! ...

Re: 1990 FZR 400/600
good point and I can totally relate..... as such I NEVER remove more than one piece at a time cuz that would be some thing that I would do and spend an insane amount of time trying to figure out!.... most of that time would be spent on trying to figure out whose fault it was of course! :yikes: I've ...
