Re: Replacing clutch, do I need to replace this...
Well I just got back from the amazing wedding and honeymoon and got to putting the bike back together. I was able to get a used boss in excellent shape from a local guy off eBay actually. Just got it all wrapped up and took it for a ride around for about 15 minutes. The bike feels so much smoother n...

Re: 1996 doesn't wanna start or even click or anything
Occasionally the switch or button on my right side controls stick or don't work properly. If the bike doesn't do anything when I hit Start I flip the kill switch off and on once or twice and it's fine.

Re: Replacing clutch, do I need to replace this...
Well I decided not to wait for the special tool to get the boss nut off and pulled out my M18 Fuel impact wrench. I happened to have a 27mm socket already. I took off the lock nut first obviously. The damn thing spun right off without the hammer hitting once. If it was torqued to 70ft/lbs AND I didn...

Re: Replacing clutch, do I need to replace this...
Yeah, that thing's done. Those divots will catch on the plates, preventing a smooth release. That inner part is the hub or boss; the basket is the outer part with the fingers. The basket is usually the one with the bad wear; I don't think i've seen a hub quite that bad! There are a few items on eBa...

Replacing clutch, do I need to replace this...
First timer clutch replacement. Pretty simple. Clutch basket looks worn from discs. Do I have to replace? Really trying to save some money(getting married in a week). If I do have to replace, suggestions on where? http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v235/Aero540T/BF048572-4CA7-4766-8C35-D675D0C26187.j...

Re: TRICKS TO SEATING AIRBOX ON CARBS?
Hey guys, first post but I've had my 97 600 for about 2 years now and the airbox has been one of the most enjoying little issued with the bike. My method is a heat gun on the rubbers, still attached to the airbox. Heat up and rub a little water + dawn dish soap on the mating surfaces. Bike is on fr...

Re: Installed manual fan switch, no manual fan
Thanks but I'm officially an idiot haha. While in my haste I unplugged a connector while doing the switch because it was in the way. When I finished I forgot to plug that back in. Which plug was it for you ask? The fan. So yeah I plugged it back in and the switch works perfectly. Should have done th...

Re: Installed manual fan switch, no manual fan
In addition last week my bike overheated idling in the garage while tuning the carbs. Fan never came on so maybe the fan is bad?

Installed manual fan switch, no manual fan
So I looked over the help topics around here and I'm quite sure I did it correctly. A couple pictures below. I just picked up a random switch at AutoZone, is this the culprit? Where should I start looking? None of my fuses are blown, btw. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v235/Aero540T/7FEEFDCF-8153...

Re: Not charging properly
Ok so I got that connector in the mail (ordered two in case I screwed it up) and also wired up a new ground straight to the engine block from the negative pin on the VRR. Take a look at the pics and let me know if you have an issue with anything? I started up the bike and I'm now at 13.8V at 3K RPM....

Re: Not charging properly
Thanks Don that's exactly what I was looking for!. I'm going to strip those wires and test them first and rewire up that new connector for the time being and see if that takes care of it. Otherwise I'll keep your other options in mind. I hope the stator I got is correct!

Re: Not charging properly
I also noticed my stator cover never had a gasket. Does it really need one?

Re: Not charging properly
Follow that black cable along, you should come to a 2-pin connector (crank sensor) and 3-pin connector (stator). Check the stator connection for condition, security, combustion (no - really!) and continuity to the VRR on one side and the stator on the other. I had to take the airbox and gas tank ou...

Re: Not charging properly
does this help? http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v235/Aero540T/7E221938-0D63-46F5-895A-DAD602F73D80.jpg Or is the plug higher up on the harness? I can see a plug a little further up but i can't tell if it's from the stator. I was able to get that screw out even though it's stripped badly and I'll r...

Re: Not charging properly
I took the stator cover off and the only thing I notice physically is it's missing a screw on the bracket for the wiring. Looks like a PO has been in here before. Should I be looking to replace the Stator at this point? I checked the impedance on the 3 white wires with the bike off and I got nothing...
