Re: Oil Light
Mine's about half way up when I do an oil change. It would be nice if they put lines though, huh?

Wow, I just got around to downloading that race and it was close.
Is there a channel that has the announcing in English? It's kind of annoying not being able to understand what they're saying...

Re: MAJOR PROBLEM-HELP PLEASE
Soak it in penetrating oil for a few days too. Is there still ceramic in there or is it just the metal ring? I've had good luck with left hand drill bits and easy-outs too.
Shredex's idea is good too. If you can't get a dremel in there you might be able to use a hacksaw blade...

Re: Drive Sprocket Nut specs
Mine has a lock washer like this that you just bend up the outside against a flat on the nut. Some have a tab that catches a grove in the shaft and other have a tab that goes into a hole in the sprocket. I can't remember what type mine has... http://www.howmotorcycleswork.com/r6/chain/r6_733_chain.j...

Re: Gear selection trouble
I'm pretty sure you can just lay the bike over on it's left side and remove the cover without draining the oil.magsmagsmags wrote: And also just to check, do i need to drain the oil before i remove the cover? or is it only necessary if i'm actually going to replace it

Re: exuast and baffles
It won't get sucked in, the back pressure is just a quick pulse and the exhaust gasses are still traveling to the back of the bike.
If it came loose I could see it maybe clogging up the muffler but all that would do is stall the bike. You're fine to try it.

Re: WTF is this???
p.s ....because of gravity, you may very well notice coolant in the oil first before you notice oil in the coolant Yeah, when the engine's hot the coolant is under much higher pressure than the oil so you'll probably see coolant in the oil first. If your oil starts to look milky that's the coolant...

Don't know if you still need it but here's what my '90 400 looks like. http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t219/ashtong63/FZR%20400/P5090010.jpg I have since run the wiring harness up through the frame spar so I could put on the airbox. Boy did that suck... I was curious about that too, my 400 doesn'...

Re: Handguards
Not sure what you mean by the "normal style" but these are popular for MX bikes. Not meant to keep your hands warm, but they definitely do help stop the wind. Some styles mount to the lever perches so I'm sure they'd work on an FZR too. http://www.chaparral-racing.com/Chaparral/dept.asp?dept_id=442&...

Re: BIKE SECURITY
I have a Xena one on my bike, the xz1. http://www.xenasecurity.com/product/motorbikes/alarm/showall/ It seems to be built pretty sturdy, and man is it LOUD. It hurts your ears if it goes off while you're trying to unlock it, which happens to me a lot cause it's really sensitive to movement. I think ...

I like the green/black theme a lot. Might be hard to get the seats to match the paint you use... Maybe some green FZR or YAMAHA decals instead?

I bet most of those bikes have never had their tire pressures checked...
Seriously though, I think this is an awesome contest. Great way to get some quality write-ups posted up, THANKS!

Air filter is under the gas tank cover. If you have a large black box in front of the gas tank that's the airbox, and the the filter can be removed by taking out the 4 screws holding on the intake. If there's no black box but either 2 or 4 open filters, you have pods.

Ash, might be easier on the rest of us if you labeled your picture of the individual components in "group 6" as it is the one lister thinks the scew you are refering to is the plastic cap holding screws (4 pieces ) and recomending these being changed out to Allen hean socket or button head type (go...
