Re: 1988 project
Totally forgot about this thread. Bike has been on and off the road for a while now. Currently, I am swapping the swingarm over to a 94 which allows me to run a 17 inch wheel with a 180 tire. Almost done, just waiting for the correct rear shock. In case you are interested, I built a small website wh...

Re: 1988 project
I haven't found the time to look into this so thanks for that. I did like photobucket bc it was easy to use. But I'll move completely off of them.

Re: 1988 project
Been a while waiting for frame, business trip etc. Frame is now done and I begun to put the electrical stuff on the bike. Here the battery and m-unit. Btw, the starter relay sits underneath the tank mount bracket. http://i1217.photobucket.com/albums/dd385/saftie99/1988%20Yamaha%20FZR%201000/20170613...

Re: 1988 project
Tail frame will be black to match tank for now. I might powdercoat entire bike at some point and will change colors. Wow, your bike does look a bit messed up, doesn't it. Even though I am German, I am happy to live in the US where you don't have to deal with TUV etc. Here you just throw stuff on you...

Re: 1988 project
Thanks.
Yeah, I know there is not much activity here but I keep updating this thread just for completeness sake. Its also a nice diary. And hey, maybe others find useful info in here.

Re: 1988 project
Seat is at upholstery and should be back in a few days.
Once that's done, a few more tabs need to be welded on to attach seat and m-unit.

Re: 1988 project
Working on new seat pan now.
"Tagging" the back support in place for now. Once dry, everything will come off the bike and more layers will be added to make it more sturdy.

Re: 1988 project
Frame almost done. I have it back now to fit the seat again and figure out attachment points for a plate on which my m-unit will sit. Also need to find a new location for brake reservoir. It will either be inside the frame or on the outside, not sure yet. The fender plate is removable which makes wo...

Re: 1988 project
Frame is welded in the meantime and side as well as tail covers/fenders are being fabricated. http://i1217.photobucket.com/albums/dd385/saftie99/1988%20Yamaha%20FZR%201000/IMG953251_zps4iw9hw3i.jpg A small wind screen is finishing off the front. Sits a bit high right now but I am dropping it a few m...
