Re: Genesis revival

Re: Genesis revival

Since i'd repaired the bottom of the tank, i thought it best to seal it, but in looking on the net for the best one, i came across a piece on using electrickery to get most of the rust and shit out first. So gathered the ingredients http://i1262.photobucket.com/albums/ii620/davidjsy/FZR%201000/IMG_6...

Re: Genesis revival

I think for the amount of time it took to make them, bearings would be a cheaper option. I would send you the ones i made already but i used them on another job

Re: Genesis revival

I turned them out on the lathe to be a precision fit so i wouldn't have to seal them  http://i1262.photobucket.com/albums/ii620/davidjsy/FZR%201000/IMG_6701_zps7ef2d183.jpg http://i1262.photobucket.com/albums/ii620/davidjsy/FZR%201000/IMG_6705_zpsfdf8f6a0.jpg I can be a bit anal when it com...

Re: Genesis revival

It was at this point that i got a call from my younger bro, who followed in big bro's footsteps and became a welder too :-D The place he worked in had a small powder coating unit that he was going to use to do my bits, but he'd given his notice in and said i needed to get the bits to him soon if i w...

Re: 1988 FZR 1000 Build

Apparently they are ok for general road use as they don't really become active until you get the revs up a bit and they tighten up, not tried it yet though.
But if the set up you have works then happy days. I didn't know the YZF basket was an upgrade. One of the reasons i joined this forum

Re: Genesis revival

On to the exhaust. The bike came with a stumpy Devil can, and as good as it sounded it just wouldn't do for this sort of build. Luckily a mate had an almost brand new Titanium can from an R1, one of his customers brought the bike and changed the can straight away, so i done a deal to do a small weld...

Re: 1988 FZR 1000 Build

I love the look of that back end  This is the sort of thing I was thinking about doing to mine until I decided to stay stock. Hopefully you'll have a beast of a motor with them mods. Have you sorted out the clutch? Have you thought about a lockup clutch? I've got one that I'm saving for wh...

Re: Genesis revival

On to the plastics. I'd found some half decent rear plastics on ebay, but some of the lugs were missing so i improvised with a bit of ali and a few screws that'll be filled over and hopefully be stronger than original http://i1262.photobucket.com/albums/ii620/davidjsy/FZR%201000/IMG_6159_zpsc55d3a14...
