Re: Upgrade to digital speedo - what can I use?
I can tell you the fzr tach gets its signal from the igniter/computer,cdi,ecu(whatever you want to call it). It comes from a pick up sensor on the right side of the engine, then to the ECU, and ECU sends the tach signal to the gauge.

Re: Upgrade to digital speedo - what can I use?
Wiring was pretty easy, its on an old 95 900ss. I grabbed the signal from one of the pick ups. Something else I did was wire the headlights to the bright side so the bright light comes on when the headlights are on. I am running high compression pistons with HID headlights, and if you ever heard one...

Re: Upgrade to digital speedo - what can I use?
I have an fzr1000 that is up for sale. If it doesn't sale soon, I will upgrade the gauges to this one. The speedo needle bounces around on my stock gauges.

Re: Upgrade to digital speedo - what can I use?
I put a $22 eBay one on my old Ducati about 8 months ago and it's working great even through several rain storm rides. I hooked my oil pressure sensor to the check engine light. Even added a fuel sender so I now have fuel level instead of just a light. http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20161001/20f186...

Re: Replacing the EXUP
It was a used header I found on eBay in great condition, got it installed still need to install the muffler. Took it down the road and it transformed the bike. I think I can go lean I clip on the needle now. But now it accelerates fine from a stop and has nice smooth acceleration. Overall seems to m...

Re: Replacing the EXUP
Thank you for the great info! Luckily, the servo is still in tact and working, and I have the cables. Carbs... I replaced the carbs with those from a 98 r1, it runs slightly better than with the original carbs. They did have slightly ovaled emulsion tubes. I am all too familiar with these carbs, hav...

Replacing the EXUP
I bought my 92 fzr1000 last year not running. It came with a full d&d system and no EXUP. I have been trying to get this thing tuned for a year and can't get it just right. It's pig rich below 3000 rpms and bogs and stutters. Slightly rich at wot in the midrange, and perfect high rpm and high speed ...

Re: 90 fzr 1000 needle ID and tune
My bike had a d&d header when I bought it(no exup) I just installed a wideband o2 to dial it in, and now fully understand why the exup valve is in place. It's important to note that the carbs are downdraft, therefore the main jet is regulated by the needle which is connected to the slide that opens ...

1992 Fzr 1000 fork oil capacity
I have searched but not sure I have the right data. The bike has the KYB usd forks, and the capacity I found shows 470cc of fork oil. However, this feels like way too much, and is more than I drained out for sure. I did not fully disassemble the forks but pumped them up several times while draining ...

Tail center fairing 91+ models.
Mine fell off one day and was okay until some jackleg ran over as I was standing on the side of the road waiting for him to pass. Had lots of trouble finding the right replacement so I am repairing this one. However, I forgot exactly what it looked like. Can anyone snap a few good photos of theirs e...

Re: Cleaning up the old beast a bit.
Thanks, I was using just regular painters tape, and pulling it off just after the powder flows which works quite well. The one with the messed up lines was done with high temp tape for powder coating. I left it longer as it would not burn like painters tape, but the paint strung with it as I pulled ...

Re: Running on 3 cylinders | 96 FZR 1000
Wow! Awesome!!!! So glad you got it sorted out! I also treated myself to another bike for Christmas. Now quite as nice as the r1 but for $100, yep, a 100 bones I couldn't pass it up. She has fox suspension, and a dynojet kit, 27k miles on the clock. I'm the second owner. http://images.tapatalk-cdn.c...

Re: Cleaning up the old beast a bit.
Thanks, it's still apart right now, think I am going to powder coat the tank top. The bike was repainted metallic red and still looks pretty good needs a little touch up, but the tank had fuel sit in it for almost 15 years and needed quite a bit of work. Trying to decide if I want to match the metal...
