There's a list of steps to go through for testing the charging system in the service manual. If you don't have one, I can give you a link to where you can download it.

I'm trying to access the stator connector underneath the gas tank. Do I need to completely disconnect the gas tank to access the connector? I'm looking to disconnect as little as possible because I just need access to the connector.

Thanks for the replies. How do I go about testing the stator? I saw that flowchart and was able to do the testing of the voltage to the battery, but I'm not sure how to test the rest... like checking the amps between the negatives and the A/C volts on the VR. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
