Re: Horn is intermittent...electrial help!!
I decided to remove my "rigged" horn because it was just a temporary fixed. I plan on doing the right right when I have time. In addition it was ugly. The switch's terminals were exposed and could pose a issue with rain. I didn't have a fuse incorporated into the circuit.

Re: Horn is intermittent...electrial help!!
Created a new ground and the horn works!! BUT....it now sounds when I turn my ignition to "on." As if the switch is being constantly pushed in. Now I'm stumped. I don't think my switch is stuck. I opened it up and everything looks good. Could it be a faulty relay?? HELP!!!!

Re: Horn is intermittent...electrial help!!
Thanks guys!! This is a ton of useful information!! I'm going to try and use my volt meter to make sure I have 12v coming from the switch and will prob open it up to inspect the guts. Then will create a new ground wire, which should solve my issues. I will repost tomorrow with my results.

Re: Horn is intermittent...electrial help!!
I'm a total noob here and will devote all of tomorrow in getting this thing done. But I have no clue what a triple tree is. And your last statement has me at a total loss. "the current ground path is back through the harness to the main chassis ground buss which will be on the inside of the frame be...

Horn is intermittent...electrial help!!
Ok, this is the last hurdle for this bike and I'm in the clear. I need her to pass inspection but my horn is not working properly. I bought a brand new 12v horn and that didn't solve my problem so I assume its either my horn switch or some wiring issue. The horn gets proper voltage. So that checked ...

Re: Oil Change question with pics
Took it to the dealer and they took care of it for me. Good thing I let them handle it because the oil filter that was on there didn't have a gasket...go figure. Not sure if that was something I would have caught. Thanks for all the input guys!!!

Re: Oil Change question with pics
One more thing guys. For the life of me I cannot remove the oil filter case. This bolt will not budge at all. Could this be a reverse threaded bolt?? Any insight on how to remove this.

Re: Oil Change question with pics
Thanks Stig!!! Always helping a brother out. What do you mean when you say "the cases were machined?" Also, as I believe, the exup has been removed from this bike or disconnected. When you say the exup needs attention, how do you know? I picked up this bike from a gentleman locally. It's a streetfig...

Bike: 1989 FZR 1000 I'm tackling my first ever oil change!!! Need some guidance. Where do I add the oil. Seems simple enough but looking at the photo there seems to be two places where I can remove the knobs and add the oil. Which knob do I remove??? Also the other picture is where I think is the dr...

Re: Clutch Master Cylinder (pic)
Here is another pic of a clutch master cylinder off of a 1989 FZR 1000. And again the alpha-numeric listing is different. Can anyone shed some light on this??

Clutch Master Cylinder (pic)
I need to replace my clutch master cylinder on my 1989 FZR 1000. I found a replacement on ebay at a good price but it was from a 1991 FZR 1000. So I contacted the dealer and they told me that the my replacement will fit my bike. Part numbers are the same. Great!! So I purchased the replacement but n...

1989 FZR 1000 carb syncing
This will be my first time at a carb cleaning and syncing. My only problem is I have no clue where the vacuum hoses go when hooking up my sync tool. As I understand my synchronization screws will be sitting in between my carbs: Carb 1 (screw) Carb 2 (screw) Carb 3 (screw) Carb 4 and those screws sho...
