Re: Going back to stock airbox
So I have this in my messages. And the question is answered. Yes they fit over the stacks, which fit over the carbs. And the seem to be 3" above while mounted. So 4" maybe? And just work the stacks into the pods, they will go on if your determined to make them fit.

fabricating velocity stacks
If I have the rubber hosing im going to use to cut velocity stacks. Should I fit the stacks inside the uni foam filters? Or should I seat the filters on the ends of the 3" pieces of hose? Im just not sure how far the pods should be away from the mouths of the carbs.

Re: 97 fzr 600 dead battery?
A new battery is going to cost alot more than a battery. And a new stator with said regulator is on ebay for around 100 dollars. So either way you go, its going to cost you around the same no matter which direction you go first. Don is a pretty knowledgable man, so when he offers his input just rest...

Re: been away for a while...... '91 600 help
If you go down the list of post to mine titled "going back to stock airbox" a user named ragedigital posted some "words from the wise" that covers these pieces of rubber or pvc called "velocity stacks"this was a topic of hugely beneficial knowledge to what your dealing with.

Re: Laid my bike down :(
Well a few months ago I knew nothing at all about motorcycles. And now ive disassembled and reassembled every thing but the engine and wheels, and it runs. So this site has almost any information you will need for rehabilitation. Just takes a little extra patience and it will probably save you alot ...

Re: Going back to stock airbox
After further inspection. I have found that a few harnesses are extremely corroded. Including (stator plugs, headlight plug, and the feul pump relay) the ones for the stator and the headlamp look to me as if they are fried. Could this be a sign of any other damage occuring? And also the wires going ...

Re: Spark plugs
Im pretty sure oem is supposed to be cr8....not cr9. I have a 92 of the same bike, so my guess is that theu ruined the plug ports on the head and had to tap them out themselves with a larger plug.

Re: Going back to stock airbox
Ok so here is what exactly started all of my problems. To start, I had cleaned the tank and feul system and put fresh gas and new spark plugs in. After I did this I rode it around for a few minutes and stopped. Then rode it all the way home which was a good 20 minute ride. Once again it had zero pro...

Re: Going back to stock airbox
As of now I can get it to run, amd I know for sure that the mixture isnt going to be completely up to par, and I know they need to be synched. But it should still start up like average. And sometimes it wont fire at all. So im going to go through the carbs once more, and put the airbox back onto it....

Re: Going back to stock airbox
Ok so even if the jet size has been changed to try to work around this problem, it would still be better to just get the aorbox?

Re: Going back to stock airbox
Ok. Before I read that I have one more question. Since im not sure what size jets are in my carbs, would that create a problem if I put the oem airbox back on?

Re: Going back to stock airbox
So what exactly is this "velocity stack" you had mentioned? And where would I obtain it? And also what jet kit would be reccomended for running those filters?

Re: Going back to stock airbox
Ok so the airbox just regulates pressure to create a better vacuum to the carbs? Also there is some sort of hose that appeara to be directly below the tank, that is coming from the tranny case...I think. What does it go to? And should it be open? Because it is. And the last thing I need to ask. Ther...
