Re: Replacing Cooling System Hoses

I will check in the garage tomorrow to see if I still have my originals which are better than most. I replaced ALL rubber on my bike 10 years ago.

Re: 1-piece bar end?

Both of the bars on my 89 are one piece design. Someone must have switched the left one on yours to the two piece.
If you have access to a friend with a lathe you can machine the ends off and thread them for the trick aftermarket ends of your choice : )

Re: Swingarm spool adapters? (1988 FZR400)

I have to get mine from Canada because they don't ship to individual addresses from the UK. I go the Superbike 2 Kit. It's incredible how something so simple in design can make bike work so much easier. Can't wait to get mine :))) NICE Bimota! I spot that early GSX-R motor anywhere. :thum...

Re: Swingarm spool adapters? (1988 FZR400)

I'm ordering the ABBA stand and the extra lift bar kit for getting the wheels off the ground. They have a fitting for the 22 mm. nut on the right side and a 10 mm. pin for the left side of the swing arm bolt. I will have to drill the end of the bolt 10 mm. x 16 mm. deep to make it work but well wort...

Re: Swingarm spool adapters? (1988 FZR400)

Check the ABBA website for all the options. It's a simple bar add-on with a strap so you can have one or the other wheel off the ground, or both.
Video of the add-on.

Re: Swingarm spool adapters? (1988 FZR400)

ABBA tech replied to my inquiry about the FZR400 W stand. They said they don't make one currently, but are more than happy to make the required adapters if I send them some detailed pics and measurements....which I will do : ) I didn't mean to hi-jack this thread, but the ABBA stand does se...

Re: Swingarm spool adapters? (1988 FZR400)

Yeah they really look great and perfect for cleaning the bike too. The FZR400W rear is so narrow compared to modern swing arms that finding a paddock stand that fits it was even a challenge :/ My PitBull stand just barely makes a connection under the swing arm and I worry about it every time I use i...

Re: Swingarm spool adapters? (1988 FZR400)

Those spool adapters are really nice ideas. I wish I made my living in metal instead of wood so I could make everybody a set : )

On the other hand, that ABBA stand looks awesome! Does anyone know if they have adapters to fit the FZR400 W? They only list a FZR400RR.

Re: FZR400 modern sport tire choices?

Three choices for the best "sized" set of rubber IMO. 150/60/18 rear and 110/70/17 front. (Stock rear size is 140/60/18. A 160/60/18 rear is too wide unless you mod.) 1) I got the Bridgestone 090's in a set from the UK. Expensive to import, but best suited for street sport riding. 2) The Shinko Podi...

Yeah, 38 years dealing with every type motorcyclist imaginable, every type of motorcycle tire imaginable, every type of end use imaginable....and you get the intended point that I'll take the experts at Wheel Works word for it. Don't need a calculator for that IMO  http://img.photobucket.c...

Re: WTB 1990 FZR 400 OEM black mirror set

Thanks for that TomcatMJ  Have you or anyone else tried these Chinese mirrors on eBay? http://www.ebay.com/itm/271527962018?_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT It says they fit the FZR400 but it shows the c/c dimension as 45 mm. O.C.. My mirror studs are more like 42...

Re: FZR400 modern sport tire choices?

FWIW... The company that handled the tire mounting for my 400 is Wheel Works in Garden Grove, CA, USA. They have been doing noting but selling and mounting only motorcycle tires for the last 38 years. I knew the two owners when they first started business and I was having my 73 Honda XL250 knobbies ...

Re: WTB 1990 FZR 400 OEM black mirror set

Thanks : ) It looks to me that the right mirror ( #29) is all out of stock world wide until one shows up on Ebay or another FZR owner.
Odd because the left mirror ( #30 available) would be the most requested for replacement in kickstand tip overs :/
